AU Backgrounds and Prompts.
HERETIC AU: (3.3x compliant) "In the aftermath of restored peace between the Ishgardians and the Dravanians, most of those who were once labeled as "heretics" had laid down their arms and turned themselves in to the Temple Knights in the Holy See. Most— not all. Cecil was no Ishgardian herself, heretic or otherwise, but the abandoned Auri had been found and taken in by one such leader of the estranged citizens as an infant in the Western Highlands and there she'd been raised, among violence and bitterness that, surprisingly, often was at odds with her gentler nature as a child. She had learned though. Oh, how she had learned. The Abyss soon called to the seeds of darkness that had been planted in the bottom-most depths of her heart and soon after, she had picked up the sword and joined the Great Cause. Cecil had never exchanged words with Lady Iceheart personally, but the Elezen man whom she called her master, the same man who had reared her among his people, considered the girl a daughter too and when news of her death reached them, he could not forgive the Ishgardians. He blamed them and Cecil could see why. Ever the obedient child, she continued to lead raids and assaults in the old man's place, one of the few organizations of heretics who refused to return to their former homes. They'd lost much too in the war, through years of being denied and branded traitors for wanting to let the truth be known, and it wasn't over to them." |
WARRIOR OF LIGHT AU: (3.3x compliant) A Hyurian-Auri child born out of wedlock and orphaned at infancy, Cecil was raised by a code-abiding Hyurian pirate captain in Limsa Lominsa. Cecil traveled to Ul'dah once she was of age to enter the Coliseum with her captain's wishes and hone her swordcraft. These plans went awry, of course, as she met the Scion Thancred. |
